Oscar Duarte Biography

Oscar Duarte is a Los Angeles-based Mexican artist and designer who focuses primarily on photo-illustration and collage. Ever since he was a child, Oscar was often using markers to draw onto magazines and newspapers. This later turned into a passion for art and design and he would later pursue a degree in Fine & Studio Art from the University of California, Riverside.
His preferred method of work is cutting out subjects from photos by hand and building new worlds for them to reside. In the form of hand-drawn shapes, lettering, and other colorful elements, he creates his pieces. He draws inspiration from art movements such as the Bauhaus school, DADA collage, and Russian Constructivism, among others.
When he isn’t working on projects, Oscar teaches art and design at a secondary school in LA. He enjoys attending concerts, playing/watching soccer, and trips to Europe, having lived in Prague for a few years.
