Luca D’Urbino Biography

Luca D’Urbino, “an idea factory, deadlines smashers,
and image tailor.” D’Urbino is an award winning, Italian-based digital artist and motion designer. He aims to create images that convey complex concepts with a direct, sometimes humorous, approach to visual language. Recently he has won a silver medal at the Society of Illustrators in NYC for “Amina e Corpo” (Soul and Body), featuring illustrations for screen printed punching bags located in a local boxing gym outside of Milan. Last year he won the Autori D’ Immagini Silver Medal in Bologna for his work with Economy Magazine, an illustration for an article on how fiscal laws are tricking citizens.

He graduated in Industrial Product Design at Politecnico di Milano and specialized in Editorial Illustration at MiMaster O.P.P.I. After that he would start his training as a Motion Designer at c.f.p. Bauer.

After working at Milanese studio Bonsai Ninja, he launched into his career as a freelance illustrator, leading him to collaborate with important publications and brands from all over the world. Among them: The Economist (for which he created more than thirty covers), Internazionale, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Die Zeit, L’Express, Hermés, Shopify, Il Sole 24Ore, Longanesi, Iliad, La Stampa, La Repubblica, Volkswagen, Millionaire, Economy Magazine, Handelsblatt, De Volksrant, Courrier International, Sky.
