Yunyi Dai Biography

Yunyi Dai is an award-winning illustrator and designer based in Pasadena, California. As a storyteller and visual problem solver, she is passionate about creating Editorial Illustrations, Children’s Book Illustrations, Lifestyle Illustrations, Pattern Designs, Illustrated GIFs, and 3D Illustrations.

 

Born and raised in China for 14 years before moving to the United States to study, Yunyi brings a global sensitivity to her visual storytelling. She earned her Master’s degree from the Illustration as Visual Essay program at the School of Visual Arts and her Bachelor’s degree in Illustration from the Maryland Institute College of Art.

 

Yunyi is a curious traveler who thrives on new adventures. Whether she’s exploring unfamiliar flavors and dishes or shredding ice on her skates, she finds inspiration in the world around her. In her free time, she actively practices figure skating and competes as a member of her local synchronized skating team. She also enjoys writing postcards and collecting stamps with her penpals around the globe.

 

Her clients include Duke University, Folger Shakespeare Library, Green American Magazine,Los Angeles Times, NPR, Passion Planner, Poetry Foundation, Scientific American, The Girlfriend from AARP, The Washington Post, The World, and the Wall Street Journal, among others.
